LATEST NEWS

We are currently in Moffett, OK where a historic flood damaged every home and building from major rains that happened upriver this summer.  We're rebuilding 3 homes and also helping others as we can, trusting The LORD to help us keep our commitments.  Unfortunately we've struggled to get volunteers, even locals to help us, which is truly sad.  We're set up to handle volunteers so if you're interested in learning more about joining us, click here.  There is also a volunteer availability calendar on that page. If you're interested in financially supporting Calvary Relief, click here.

To read our 2019 Review, please click here. To stay up to date with what we're doing, please see our Facebook account and/or our newsletters, links are above.  Please pray that wherever we are and whatever we do, we'd be diligent as we share the love of Jesus with those around us in a tangible way.  Please remember to keep us in your prayers and especially that we'd grow in our relationship with The LORD and draw others to Him in all we say and do!  Curt & Mary Jo

Delighting In God's Works

Everywhere we look, we see the wonders of God’s creation.  It’s impossible to miss it unless of course, you don’t want to see it!

One thing we can readily see, is His Word, The Bible!  What makes Scripture so great?  God left it for us so that we could learn about Him, about The Gospel that saves us from eternity in hell, and for how we’re to live our lives while we’re on this earth.

The psalmist tells us that those who delight in His works, study them.  We can study anything about what all God created to see the magnificence of it all and how The LORD has perfectly placed everything right where it needs to be, but I believe that what we can and should study most is His Word since this is what not only spells out creation itself, but again is all we need to know for how we’re to live our lives on this earth.

The word delight in the original Hebrew means having pleasure in, desiring.  In other words, those who take pleasure in and desire God’s truths, His ways, etc, will study His Word, The Bible!  Sure, sounds simple, right?  But if it’s so simple, why do so few take the time to do so on a daily basis?

In Psalm 119:105 we’re told that God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.  In Matthew 4:4 we’re told that we can’t live by bread alone, but by EVERY word that comes out of God’s mouth.  In John 6:35 Jesus tells us that He’s the Bread of life and if we come to Him we will never hunger or thirst again.

These are just a few verses highlighting the importance of God’s Word daily dug into and applied to our lives.  It’s clear that if we really are enthralled by the works of The LORD, then we’d daily be in His Word seeking out what God’s saying to us each individually and corporately as believers and followers of Christ and then applying it to our lives in all we say and do!  But again, sadly few do.

The next verse talks about truth and justice, they’re the works of His hands.  Interesting how these words seem to be even more at the forefront in today’s world, yet few really understand that God is the author of truth and justice!  Only He determines what is true and what is just!  Actually, He is truth and He is just and He is the only one who’s standard is truth and justice.  Ultimately truth and justice will prevail and will be known by everyone once satan is no longer ruling on this earth.  As it says in Philippians 2:10-11, at Jesus’ Name every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is LORD.  We will ALL acknowledge Him as LORD, the truth will be made known, and God will righteously judge everyone according to His standard, not ours.  Truth and justice can never exist in the way we’re told by the world, mainly because their standard is NOT The LORD.  When He isn’t the standard, only what mere man thinks is truth and justice is the rule and that will only cause divisions because the ideology that he thinks is true and just says that what another man thinks is true and just is false, while at the same time the one who’s truth and justice is declared wrong, is right to him and the one telling him he is wrong is wrong to the second.  And round and round we go!  There must be a standard of truth and justice that we all can adhere to and ultimately acknowledge that we can’t attain to, and that is the righteousness of Jesus.  We’ve all fallen short!  (Romans 3:23)

The LORD’s precepts are sure!  His ways, His understanding, His laws, everything He has done, is doing, and will do is established, reliable, and trustworthy!  We can depend on The LORD actually we can ONLY depend on The LORD!  Man and his ways will fail us, but The LORD and His Word will endure forever!  (1 Peter 1:24-25).

Acknowledging who The LORD is, is the beginning of wisdom!  Wisdom comes from The LORD, our creator, and when we realize that and then turn to Him for wisdom on how to live our lives, then we can truly begin to pursue truth!  He is the prerequisite for knowing truth!  His truth will give us understanding to accomplish all He commands us to do because understanding who He is will cause us to want to follow and obey Him all the days of our lives!  It’s not that we must obey Him, it’s because we love Him that we will want to obey Him, or should I say we get to obey Him.  (John 14:15)  We love Him because He first loved us and loved us so much that He gave His life as a payment for the sin that is in our lives while we were still sinning!  (1 John 4:19 KJV, John 3:16, Romans 5:8)

Finally, acknowledging The LORD, all He does, all He is, all He has done for us, etc will bring us into everlasting praise of and to Him!  He’s the author and finisher of our faith!  (Hebrews 12:2).  We owe our all to Him and need to dig deep into His Word on a daily basis so that we can be sustained by Him and walk in ALL His ways ALL the days of our lives!  Then when we get face to face with The LORD we will hear, “Well done my good and faithful servant, you’ve been faithful over LITTLE, I will make you ruler over much, enter into The LORD’s joy!”  (Matthew 25:21)  That my friend is worth living for!

Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions, prayer requests, etc.  We'd love to pray with and for you and to the best of our ability answer any questions you may have soley using God's Word!

Love y’all and LORD Bless,
