But their demand displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge and rule over us.” So Samuel prayed to the LORD. The LORD said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in regard to all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being King over them. Like all the deeds which they have done since the day that I brought them up from Egypt even to this day—in that they have abandoned (rejected) Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also. 1 Samuel 8:6-8 AMP

David Guzik writes-“Israel forsook God by asking for a king. When the elders of Israel asked for a king, they thought that better politics or government could meet their needs. But if they had just been faithful to their King in heaven, they would not need a king on earth.”

I know that the elections are next week.  As a Christian, I encourage you to vote.  More than that, I encourage you to remember just where your citizenship is and who is your King, Jesus!

Honestly if you know your Bible, then you know it’s going to continue to get worse unless the hearts of man change to be faithful to our King in heaven.  One thing for sure is that whoever the president, governor, mayor, congressman, councilman, etc., they will all come and go along with all their promises kept or not.

We need to remember that it is The Lord who has saved us from hell and raised us up from our sinful depravity by sending His only Son, Jesus to redeem us on The Cross at Calvary and Who now sits at God The Father’s right hand interceding for us.

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, He will NEVER change!  (Hebrews 13:8)  He will NEVER leave us or forsake us!  (Hebrews 13:5)  He will accomplish ALL He said He would!  (Proverbs 19:21)  He will FINISH what He has started in us!  (Philippians 1:6)  He will give us PEACE and JOY no matter what is going on in this world!  (John 16:33, Philippians 4:6-7)  His Word will NOT return void!  (Isaiah 55:11)  The Lord has been faithful forever and His track record more than speaks for itself!

As David said in Psalm 20:7 AMP-Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember and trust in the name of the LORD our God.

We’re told in Psalm 118:6 AMP-The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can [mere] man do to me?

More importantly, get serious about your walk with Jesus in EVERY area of your life.  We’re here to plant and water seeds so that The Lord can bring an increase in the world, in our country, no matter who our political leaders are!  It’s more important to show our faith and allegiance to The Lord than it is to a politician and to show our trust in Him to ALL those around us no matter who ends up in office.

When the election is over and whoever is seemingly in charge, how will your walk with Jesus change?  If we’re not becoming more like Christ everyday no matter what we’re going through, then we’re being disobedient to Him.  That’s the goal and God will use whatever and whoever for us to become more like Jesus!  He is the only Way, the only Truth, and the only Life!  Do we really believe that and prove it by how we live our lives?

So, get out and vote, do your due diligence from your local level all the way to the presidency.  But remember God is in control. 

Daniel 2:21 AMP-It is He who changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and establishes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise And [greater] knowledge to those who have understanding!
