We are currently in Moffett, OK where a historic flood damaged every home and building from major rains that happened upriver this summer.  We're rebuilding 3 homes and also helping others as we can, trusting The LORD to help us keep our commitments.  Unfortunately we've struggled to get volunteers, even locals to help us, which is truly sad.  We're set up to handle volunteers so if you're interested in learning more about joining us, click here.  There is also a volunteer availability calendar on that page. If you're interested in financially supporting Calvary Relief, click here.

To stay up to date with what we're doing, please see our Facebook account and/or our newsletters, links are above.  Please pray that wherever we are and whatever we do, we'd be diligent as we share the love of Jesus with those around us in a tangible way.  Please remember to keep us in your prayers and especially that we'd grow in our relationship with The LORD and draw others to Him in all we say and do!  Curt & Mary Jo

The LORD Loves Those Who Love Him-Is That You?

The Proverb tells us that not only does The LORD love those who love Him, but if anyone diligently seeks for Him, that person who truly wants to intimately know the Savior of the world, they will find Him and by finding Him and making Him LORD of their lives, they will inherit eternal life with Jesus!

The old children’s song, Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so…., is a true song.  We know from John 3:16 that God loved the WHOLE world so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus so that anyone who believes and fully puts their trust and hope in Him will live forever with Him in eternity.

John 3:1-21 is an account of Nicodemus, a Jewish leader, coming to Jesus.  Nicodemus acknowledged that Jesus was certainly with God because no one could do what Jesus did if He wasn’t, but Jesus must’ve known what his real question was, because He immediately began telling him about how one could have eternal salvation.

But then Jesus digs deeper into just what it means to believe in and trust in Him.  It’s not words repeated or insincere pleas when we’ve gotten ourselves into a bad spot.  It’s a rebirth, one that is Spiritual and comes from God The Father Himself.  It’s a total life change that begins deep inside of our hearts, minds, and souls and totally transforms our whole way of life, thinking, speech; it changes everything about us from the inside out.  Jesus ends His conversation with Nicodemus talking about Himself, The Light of the world.  He explains that those who don’t love Him and have no relationship with Him live in darkness and want nothing to do with Him, The Light.  Those who do love The LORD walk in The Truth, (follow Jesus’ teachings), and when they do, they are in The Light and it is plainly shown just who they are.  This is how a true believer in Christ who really loves Him lives their lives, by allowing The LORD to change them from the inside out!

But this begs the question, just how do we love God and actually diligently seek Him?  It isn’t lip service.  Nowhere in Scripture do we see that merely just saying something is what shows we love The LORD and that we are Christians.  It is NOT simply repeating words, coercion, feeling guilty because we were caught, plea bargaining, etc.  Jesus clearly answers this in John 14:15 AMP-“If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments.”  Loving Jesus/God means doing what He has commanded us to do.

John reminds us again of this fact and takes it a little further in 1 John 5:1-5.  In verse 3 we read-For the [true] love of God is this: that we habitually keep His commandments and remain focused on His precepts. And His commandments and His precepts are not difficult [to obey].

Yes we need to keep The LORD’s commandments, the Biblical Principles that are so clearly laid out in God’s Word.  It isn’t to be only when we feel like it, or are in a mess, etc, it is to be ALL the time.  Following Biblical Principles needs to become what we automatically do.  God’s Word needs to be our one and only focus when determining how we live our lives and how we disciple/counsel others to live their lives.  We find out exactly how The LORD wants us to live by reading and studying The Bible, our Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth!  Yes they are basic and not difficult to obey when we choose to love God first!

Psalm 119 has several verses that tell us why we need to focus on God’s Word and follow His Word/Commandments/Precepts.  It’s a good chapter to read, meditate on, memorize, and study!  Here’s just a few of them:

1-2-We’ll be blessed and favored by God for following them and diligently seeking Him

9-We can keep our ways pure by following God’s Word

11-Memorizing God’s Word in our hearts will keep us from sin

24-God’s Word is to be our counselor

25-God’s Word revives and refreshes us

29-The Promises of God’s Word refreshes and revives us

67-Before I went astray, but now I keep Your Commandments

72-It’s better than riches

86-All of it is faithful and trustworthy

89-Forever God’s Word is settled in heaven (ALL of it will ALWAYS hold true)

93-It gives us life

98-It makes us wiser than our enemies

99-It gives us better understanding and deeper insight than anything else we can be taught on earth

103-It is sweeter than honey

104-It should cause us to hate EVERY false way

105-It will guide ALL our steps

118-God turns His back on all those who wander from His Word

129-It is wonderful

130-It gives understanding even to the simple minded

140-It is pure

142-It is truth

155-The wicked do NOT seek to follow God’s Word

165-It gives us great peace and we won’t stumble if we follow It

168-We aren’t fooling God, He knows ALL we say and do when we aren’t following His Word

169-We only need understanding in this world wholly from God’s Word

172-It is righteous

We are only to use God’s Word when it comes to knowing what it is we’re to do or not to do.  This not only applies to how we live our lives, but also how we disciple/counsel others who The LORD puts into our lives and are Christians.  We are strictly warned to not adhere to the wisdom or philosophies of ANY man!

1 Corinthians 3:18-21 AMP-Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool [discarding his worldly pretensions and acknowledging his lack of wisdom], so that he may become [truly] wise. [19] For the wisdom of this world is foolishness (absurdity, stupidity) before God; for it is written [in Scripture], “[He is] THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE and CLEVER IN THEIR CRAFTINESS;” [20] and again, “THE LORD KNOWS THE THOUGHTS of the [humanly] wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS.” [21] So let no one boast in men [about their wisdom, or of having this or that one as a leader]. For all things are yours.

Proverbs 16:25 AMP-There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, But its end is the way of death.

Colossians 2:6-10 AMP-Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in [union with] Him [reflecting His character in the things you do and say—living lives that lead others away from sin], [7] having been deeply rooted [in Him] and now being continually built up in Him and [becoming increasingly more] established in your faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing in it with gratitude. [8] See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception [pseudo-intellectual babble], according to the tradition [and musings] of mere men, following the elementary principles of this world, rather than following [the truth—the teachings of] Christ. [9] For in Him all the fullness of Deity (the Godhead) dwells in bodily form [completely expressing the divine essence of God]. [10] And in Him you have been made complete [achieving spiritual stature through Christ], and He is the head over all rule and authority [of every angelic and earthly power].

As believers in the ONE TRUE God, and our Savior, Jesus Christ, we need to habitually pray and get into The Word of God to discover what it is The LORD wants us to put on and put off in how we live our lives on this earth as we allow The Holy Spirit to make us into His image.  If not, then we don’t really love God, even if we say we do, go to church, think we’re good, etc.  There is none righteous, no not one, and that includes you and me, Romans 3:10.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 AMP-Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? [20] You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions, prayer requests, etc.  We'd love to pray with and for you and to the best of our ability answer any questions you may have soley using God's Word!

Love y’all and LORD Bless,

Curt & Mary Jo
