LATEST NEWS

We are currently in Moffett, OK where a historic flood damaged every home and building from major rains that happened upriver this summer.  We're rebuilding 3 homes and also helping others as we can, trusting The LORD to help us keep our commitments.  Unfortunately we've struggled to get volunteers, even locals to help us, which is truly sad.  We're set up to handle volunteers so if you're interested in learning more about joining us, click here.  There is also a volunteer availability calendar on that page. If you're interested in financially supporting Calvary Relief, click here.

To read our 2019 Review, please click here. To stay up to date with what we're doing, please see our Facebook account and/or our newsletters, links are above.  Please pray that wherever we are and whatever we do, we'd be diligent as we share the love of Jesus with those around us in a tangible way.  Please remember to keep us in your prayers and especially that we'd grow in our relationship with The LORD and draw others to Him in all we say and do!  Curt & Mary Jo

Deploying To Eastern KY For Flood Relief

As I mentioned in my last update, we’d been talking to several folks in the VA/KY flooded areas.  Through a series of contacts in another conversation that it appears God directed another way, it looks as if we are headed to Eastern KY for long-term relief/rebuilds.

The area we’re going to has some help now, but it’s winding down as the muckouts are finishing up and those who are currently there aren’t expressing any interest in long-term and no one else has reached out either.

What we know so far, they want and need someone like us there long-term.  Around 700 people are homeless.  They’re scrambling to get some tent cities set up and RV’s as they can get them, probably a FEMA thing.  Winter is right around the corner.  Most, if not all, of these folks didn’t have flood insurance, they don’t live in a flood zone.

We’ll be leaving Louisiana with our bunkhouse and diesel Thursday, the 1st, arriving late Friday.  We’ll be looking at some things, but mostly meeting folks and going over all we’ll need to set up Camp Calvary so that we’ll be ready to get that done as soon as we return.  Building materials are scarce there, so we’ll need to get all we’ll need for setting up Camp outside of the area.  We’ve got the location, but as we usually do, we’ll need to set up 3 sets of electrical hookups, 2 water and sewer hookups, and area internet.

We’ll also be figuring out where we will house out-of-town volunteers.  Our contacts say they have the property we’ll need to set up at and on, we just need to put it all together once we get our eyes on what all it will take!

I’ve already talked to a few churches and other contacts who expressed interest in joining us, but this will be a long haul and will take a lot of servants, so start praying about this and discussing it with those in your circle, church, etc.  We’re hoping that we’ll be ready for servants by the end of September.  If you’re interested in growing in The LORD as you selflessly serve others alongside of Calvary Relief, please let us know!  For more info on joining us, click here.  You’ll find all the info you need except exactly where you’ll be staying, for security reasons, and what you’ll be doing as CR is a fluid operation!

Materials will be a huge need here.  Not only will monies be scarce, but so will supplies.  If you have any interest in helping with this or have access to things such as insulation, sheetrock and supplies, electrical, plumbing, paint, flooring, etc., please let me know.

We are still waiting on our truck motor to be replaced.  I discussed our time frame with the mechanic yesterday once this started moving forward, and he’s doing his best.  We won’t be able to take it on our first trip but should be ready by the second load.  One important thing is that he’s recommending we don’t load it up or pull a trailer until we hit 1000 miles, so this may cause an issue with our relocation.  We still don’t know what the final bill will be for this, and we’ve only given him a deposit for him to purchase the motor so he wouldn’t get stuck with it!

We also may need an extra trailer to get all of our stuff to KY, we’ll see.  We will probably need at least one more driver if not two, depending on how all of this pans out.

Tearing down, moving, and setting up Camp Calvary takes about a week and a half if we do it straight through.  With soaring fuel prices and set up costs, this will cost more than what it has in the past.  If you can help with any of our costs for moving, repairs, and ongoing needs, you can click this link to learn more, Donate (calvaryrelief.com) .

So thankful that The LORD is in control and knew exactly what we’d be doing and what’d we’d need to do it before we even knew what we were going to do!  And we’re so thankful to Him for all of you who faithfully pray for and support us!  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or thoughts you may have!

If there’s ever anything you need prayer about or just need to talk to someone, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and let us know!

Here to serve and disciple until He calls us home,

Curt & Mary Jo
