LATEST NEWS

We are currently in Moffett, OK where a historic flood damaged every home and building from major rains that happened upriver this summer.  We're rebuilding 3 homes and also helping others as we can, trusting The LORD to help us keep our commitments.  Unfortunately we've struggled to get volunteers, even locals to help us, which is truly sad.  We're set up to handle volunteers so if you're interested in learning more about joining us, click here.  There is also a volunteer availability calendar on that page. If you're interested in financially supporting Calvary Relief, click here.

To stay up to date with what we're doing, please see our Facebook account and/or our newsletters, links are above.  Please pray that wherever we are and whatever we do, we'd be diligent as we share the love of Jesus with those around us in a tangible way.  Please remember to keep us in your prayers and especially that we'd grow in our relationship with The LORD and draw others to Him in all we say and do!  Curt & Mary Jo

Health And SRQ Update-8

Our prayers go out to so many in Texas, New Mexico, and North Carolina who’ve had devastating flooding the past week.  At this point we don’t know when and if we’d deploy to any of these areas as we’re still helping folks in the Sarasota area from last years hurricanes and I need to deal with a medical issue, not to mention that it’s hurricane season once again.

As a small org, which we love and are so blessed that The Lord has given us, we can’t always just go to every storm and we also don’t go back on our commitments we’ve already made.  The recovery in these areas and others that have asked for our help, will go on for years to come.  We’ll see what The Lord has for us and continue to pray for all those affected by these disasters as well as those who are actively helping them.

We know and appreciate the fact that many of you keep us in your prayers, especially for our "getting older" physical issues.

In 2009 I got a slight hernia from lifting a generator by myself getting ready to deploy to Cherokee, Arkansas for a winter storm response. If you've been tracking us since then you know that was also when I fell 15+ feet off a ladder while cutting some widow makers from a tree.  I miraculously never lost conscience, though my memory faded in and out for several hours, and I didn't have a single bone break!  I had slight vertigo for a few months and Mary Jo says that I still get crazy from time to time, but otherwise no long-term issues from the fall!  (Cherokee Arkansas Response)

I then messed my hernia and my back up a little more helping build a house in Lyons, CO in 2016 after a major flood hit the area.  (Lyons Rebuild 2016-17)

Since then, I occasionally have done things that cause my hernia to flare up a little, but it has always gone back to not being an issue at the most, a couple days later.

Back in May it flared up, not sure what exactly caused it as I'm always pretty busy, but then didn't go away. While we were out of town we did manage to rest some, but we also did some work here and there which you can read in our last newsletter, (Sarasota Deployment Update-7).

After all we did on our time away and then getting busy working on our roof at our house and underneath our 5th wheel this week, I've been in intense pain and can't work at all today.  Praying I can get right back at it as I’ve got Rob from St Louis here to help with fixing our 5th wheel slide outs as well as some other projects including the electrical work we still need to do at Brett’s.

I've scheduled a consultation with a recommended surgeon that specializes in hernia repair and will see them on the 24th.  They say it only takes about 2 weeks from the consultation to get it taken care of as they aren't a commercially focused office, their words and my friends not mine!

Please pray my hernia to go back down and the pain to recede, for the hernia not to be extensive so that the repair and recovery time is minimal so we can continue to do those things The Lord has for us to do!  Pray that I don’t get on MJ’s nerves too bad!!

Rob and I got the first slide out torn apart Monday and got the supplies to start putting it back together hopefully tomorrow if my hernia subsides.

Rob, Hamilton, and I also worked on the roof at our house Tuesday-Thursday, which got messed up in last year’s hurricanes.  I didn’t realize how bad it was.  While trying to fix the area we thought the leak was, the ceiling where the water was coming through caved in.  We were hoping it would dry out, be patched, and painted, but once it was out, we could see even more areas that were leaking.  I think we got everything that was leaking inside the house but still have a few issues in the eaves.  We’re leaving it open until we either get some rain the next couple of days or we’ll go over with a hose and make sure it’s good.  Then we need to insulate, drywall, and paint.

Love and appreciate yas!
