We are currently in Moffett, OK where a historic flood damaged every home and building from major rains that happened upriver this summer.  We're rebuilding 3 homes and also helping others as we can, trusting The LORD to help us keep our commitments.  Unfortunately we've struggled to get volunteers, even locals to help us, which is truly sad.  We're set up to handle volunteers so if you're interested in learning more about joining us, click here.  There is also a volunteer availability calendar on that page. If you're interested in financially supporting Calvary Relief, click here.

To stay up to date with what we're doing, please see our Facebook account and/or our newsletters, links are above.  Please pray that wherever we are and whatever we do, we'd be diligent as we share the love of Jesus with those around us in a tangible way.  Please remember to keep us in your prayers and especially that we'd grow in our relationship with The LORD and draw others to Him in all we say and do!  Curt & Mary Jo

Hurricane Sally Update-10-1-20

It’s been a little over 2 weeks since Hurricane Sally made landfall and the eye passed through Foley, AL.  We’ve been deployed here for 2 weeks, serving alongside Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Foley (CCFF).  So far we've been able to serve and finish 28 different homeowners!

With the help of CC La Habra, CA who brought in a lot of stuff, we were able to set up Camp Calvary at Pastor Joe and Lorraine’s home, which is also where Mary Jo and I are currently living.  Our electricity was restored last Friday, but then had AC problems that were fixed on Saturday.  It’s been really hot and humid and we’ve had a lot of rain which has mostly been sprinkles to help keep the humidity higher and one day of a really bad storm.

We hit the ground running, immediately setting up some generators for folks who didn’t have any power and supply gasoline for folks who were running out since there was no power and very little stations open when we arrived.

I’ve been able to assess about 75 homes and have about a dozen more that have asked for help so far that I haven’t had the chance to get to yet.  The requests have been tree removal from homes, other buildings, fences, yards, etc, roof tarping, water damage, and general yard clean-up.   A couple of the sites were completed by others before we could get to them.  So far we’ve completed 28 work orders and have a few that just need a little more to complete!  We’re going to try to rent a skidsteer with a grapple rake attachment and move as much as we can that has been cut to the road.  Some of the trees are so huge that the stump and root balls will take big machines to take care of.  Some of the trees also will need a bucket truck or crane to be removed because of power lines, homes, and other structures in danger of getting damaged when they come down.  There’s still plenty of work to be done!

CCFF is very active in their community, including a weekly food bank program.  Part of the team has been able to help with one of the regular distributions, and they’ve done 2 other special ones because of the hurricane since we’ve been here.  Never a dull moment!

The team of 5 from La Habra cooked for us and helped tarp roofs for the week that they were here.  A youth group from their church also came in for 3 days and helped with some cleanup projects, fence work and helped with the food distribution at CCFF.  They were all a huge blessing!

Ken Graves from CC Bangor, Maine arrived last Thursday with 10 other guys.  They drove down with their van and trailer ready to help with the tree work in the area.  They stayed for a week and got a lot of work done and were a huge blessing to the community and us!  We really enjoyed the fellowship with all the guys and Ken taught Sunday at church.  They headed home this morning, so keep them in your prayers.

We’ve got a team coming in tonight for a week from CC Moreno Valley, CA for a week and another team from CC Lompoc, CA for a few days around the 10th

It doesn’t appear that they’ll be any long-term projects for us to do here, but we’ll see what The LORD wants to do!  For now, we’ll be pressing on as long as we can get the help we need and there’s a need for our help!

Please continue to keep us in your prayers that we’d be The Light that these folks need in their lives!  We’ve talked to many people so far, and a lot of them no longer attend church.  We’ve been sharing Jesus with them and inviting them to church with us.

Pics are below, there’s quite a few of them, sorry, but we’ve been too busy to post!

LORD Bless,
