As always, things can change quick for us! We landed in Chattanooga Sunday evening and immediately set out for some meetings with local agencies and then toured the affected areas. At the request of CAM, the county commissioner called a press conference for Tuesday at noon, which we also attended. We were able to make some more contacts there as well.
I posted some info on the conference on our FB page if you need more info, and if you know of anyone in this area that was affected, please give them our contact info and/or forward the post on your FB page.
The biggest need is contact info for those affected. This tornado happened 5 months ago and no one is living in these homes. The main focus of the conference is to get the info out there that folks want to help, but we need to know who needs the help. They’ve been asked to call the local 211 to begin the process.
We’ve offered to help call people and assess their needs to get the ball rolling once they call in and express their needs. There are 2 other groups that want to help out with the rebuilds, one is already there and the other, CAM, wants to come in this winter if there’s enough people who want and need their help. We can of course, also help with rebuilding and repairing.
At this point it looks as if it will take a couple weeks to get this all set up and moving. In the mean time, we’re going to head back to AR/OK this afternoon. Mary Jo will stay there and begin packing up our house/camp, etc. I’m going to get our tool trailer, load it up, and head to Foley, Alabama and at least help with first response. We’ve been in contact with several friends, pastors, and churches there that we already have great relationships with. We’ve got work to do and a place to stay all lined up.
If you’re interested in helping out in person please contact us. If you can help out with any of our expenses, you can click here for more info.
Please keep us in your prayers, this time is always stressful for us as there are a lot of logistics to take care of plus I’m still working on getting our AC installation completed in FL!
Love y’all and LORD Bless,
Curt & Mary Jo
