We are currently in Moffett, OK where a historic flood damaged every home and building from major rains that happened upriver this summer.  We're rebuilding 3 homes and also helping others as we can, trusting The LORD to help us keep our commitments.  Unfortunately we've struggled to get volunteers, even locals to help us, which is truly sad.  We're set up to handle volunteers so if you're interested in learning more about joining us, click here.  There is also a volunteer availability calendar on that page. If you're interested in financially supporting Calvary Relief, click here.

To stay up to date with what we're doing, please see our Facebook account and/or our newsletters, links are above.  Please pray that wherever we are and whatever we do, we'd be diligent as we share the love of Jesus with those around us in a tangible way.  Please remember to keep us in your prayers and especially that we'd grow in our relationship with The LORD and draw others to Him in all we say and do!  Curt & Mary Jo

Hurricane Sally-On The Ground!

I finally made it to Foley, AL about 6 PM Friday.  It was a long trip.  Our journey started in Chattanooga, TN at 3 PM Wednesday afternoon, with a stop in Fairland, OK to pick up our tool trailer with new axles and some quick rest, then to Fort Smith, AR to get loaded and switch trucks.  I headed out after fueling up and picking up some supplies, just after 8 PM Thursday.  Drove until just after midnight, got some sleep, then back on the road Friday morning.  Mary Jo stayed back in AR to pack up our RV’s so that they’re ready to deploy when we’re ready for them.

For now we’re staying at Pastor Joe and Lorraine’s house which is near where most of our work will probably be.  The trip down was uneventful, but slow as the diesel does great at pulling large loads, but it’s overall speed, especially up large hills, isn’t that quick!  I picked up a couple of generators on the way and there were a couple people who needed them from Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Foley so we immediately got them to where they were needed.  They were excited to finally have some lights and fans!  Then headed back home for a late dinner!

Power is being restored quickly to the area and Jim and Debbie already have there’s turned back on and brought one of our generators back last night along with a huge dinner of brisket they smoked all day!  There were at least 20 of us, including 3 local Sheriff's Deputies who joined us for dinner!

Joe and I assesedseveral homes with roof issues.  We’ve got some minor tarping/repair to do on several of them, with still a few more to look at.  Joe is still without power so when we got back his intern, Ricky, and I worked on doing some tree work where they need to run lines into their yard and to their house.  I ran out of steam before it was finished and will get back on that this morning as they’re working the road they live on this morning.  Pray we’d get it today!!

CCFofFoley does a lot of food pantry work for their community.  They already sent a lot of food out Friday and this morning they are back at it at a local park.  They’re also distributing some flyers to folks that need help with recovery items around their homes with our contact info.  They didn’t have power until late Friday and had already cancelled church for today.  It’s back on, but there is a huge hole in the roof in the sanctuary.  We’re going to try to get that patched today, but it’s been raining and predicted to continue the through tomorrow.  Nothing real bad, but it’s a metal roof!!

We also have one ladies home that has a hole it their room so we want to get out and try to tarp that as well today, and then will get to the others as we can and I have help!

Speaking of help, we need some volunteers.  We have a small team coming in late Tuesday and will stay through Saturday.  Other than that, it’s just us locals!!  If you can come help out, please contact us ASAP.  Click this link for all you’ll need to know except where exactly you’ll be staying and serving as we keep that private to help protect those in the area.  But rest assured we’ll take good care of you and you’ll have plenty of work to do!

If you can help out with the finances involved for Calvary Relief, you can click here for more info on giving to us.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers,

LORD Bless,

Pastor Curt & Mary Jo serving alongside of Pastor Joe and Lorraine and Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Foley
